Funeral Arrangements

1. Initial Contacts & Arrangements

• Funeral Director: It is highly recommended to choose a Catholic company familiar with Church customs. You may contact Christopher Chin (019-8563438) or Beatrice Mary Goh of the Catholic Mutual Benefit Society (082-244493).
• Parish Office: Contact the Sacred Heart parish office (082-622835) to arrange the Funeral Mass and Wake prayers.
• Documentation: You must provide the Baptismal Certificate of the deceased.

2. Location & Burial/Cremation Details

• Funeral Parlour: The body may be placed at home or a parlour. St. Joseph's Funeral Parlour can be contacted at 082-423424 (RM 300 per day).
• Burial Plots: Contact Mr. Raymond Lee (082-242634). Options include The Lord's Resting Ground at 7.5 Mile (RM 1,900), and Immaculate Heart or Catholic Memorial Park at 13 Mile (RM 2,300).
• Cremation: Nirvana Memorial Park (013-818 6223) services start from RM 1,800. Ashes must be interred in a Catholic columbarium, such as St. Peter's Parish (082-429140), where niches cost RM 5,000 to RM 8,000.

3. The Mass & Etiquette

• Eulogies: No eulogy is permitted during the Mass. The officiating priest may allow a 5-minute, faith-appropriate address from a family representative before Mass begins.
• Obituaries: Do not publish an obituary until the Mass date, time, and venue are confirmed with the parish office.
• Cemetery Protocol: The parish will arrange a minister for prayers. Note that wreaths and flowers are not permitted to be left at the cemetery.
• Offerings: Please provide a suitable love-offering to the church in an envelope labeled "FOR THE PARISH", and discretionary tokens for the priest and burial minister in clearly labeled envelopes.
